David Bowman, a seventh grader at Foundation Academy, has beaten the school record for the two-mile in Cross Country.  It is David’s best time yet.  He had the time of 13 minutes and 40 seconds. That’s a very good time for someone who’s only 12 years old.   It is a time that nobody’s ever been even close to beating.

David enjoys running a lot, and he loves being in Cross Country. He asked to joined Cross Country and really got into it. They go to many different meets and David excels at almost all of them. “He has an excellent work ethic” said Miss Zucker, his cross country coach. “From my point of view, he seems to always be on track, always works hard to run the whole time, and looks to have a competitive streak in him. He never gives up and just keeps going. David has a lot of natural ability with running.”

David was mentioned on the morning announcements and recognized. He’s very proud of himself for what he did, and he wants to continue with Cross Country and doing an activity that he loves. “I just keep trying and the work comes to me,” he said. So even when he falls or can’t do something, he continues trying. He never gives up until he reaches his goal. Even at his lowest points, he won’t stop.
